The Appian Way is an ancient 520 kilometer long road from Rome to Brindisi in southeast Italy. The area close to Rome is stacked with ancient sites.

Pantheon is one of the best preserved buildings from ancient Rome. The buidling is regarded as one of the greatest spiritual buildings in the world.

Tomb of Caecilia Metella is an old mausoleum for a wealthy member of a powerful family in ancient Rome.

This is the oldest of Rome’s four major basilicas and the official seat of the Pope. It is known as “Mother church of the whole world” among Catholics.

Piazza del Poplop is a square in the northern parts of Rome. The square has several intestering pieces, including stunning churches and an ancient obelisk.

The Trevi fountain is not only Rome’s largest Baroque fountain; it is also highly regarded as the most beautiful one and one of the most stunning fountains in the world.

Castel Sant'Angelo is an old mausoleum for a Roman Emperor. The building has sinece then played several roles and has a rich history.

Piazza Navona is one of Rome's most stunning squares. The square is domainted by three stunning fountains and a beautiful church.

Vittoriano is a massive monument dedicated to Victor Emmanuel II, the man who united Italy. The monument has much to offer; more than just beautiful statues and sculptures.

The Catacombs of San Sebastiano is an ancient underground christian burial site. The site also includes the basiica which was built on top of the catacombs.

The Catacombs of San Callisto is the most sacred and important of all the Roman catacombs. The catacboms is a must visit for anyone interested in Roman and religious history.

It is hard to think of another urban site so wonderfully peaceful. The cemetery's many tall cypress tress together with abundant flowers creates a green shelter where one can escape the city.

This pyramid is the only pyramid from ancient rome which still stands today. It was founded by Gaius Cestius Epulo; a rich magistrate to serve as their family grave.

Church of Domine Quo Vadis is a small church where St Peter is said to have met Jesus. A site of great religious importance.

The Roman Forum is truly one of the most unique places in the world, where one can find the excavations of several ancient Roman buildings in the middle of modern Rome.

Circus of Maxentius is one of the best preserved Circuses of ancient Rome. Many of the original structures still stands, though in ruinous shape.

Many rate St. Peter’s Basilica and as the most beautiful building ever made. For centuries, this basilica has been the center for the Catholic faith and it is regarded as one of the holiest Christian sites of all.

The Colosseum was the Roman Empire’s most impressive building. The ruins of the Colosseum have fascinated people over the centuries with its striking beauty.

The Theatre of Marcellus is one of the oldest preserved examples of an entertainment venue from ancient Rome.

This Doric column, covered in brilliant relief, commemorates the Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius and his military campaigns, in an excellent way.
